Arena Pantanal

The Arena Pantanal is stadium located in Cuiba, Brazil that will be used to host four group stages during the 2014 Football World Cup. The 44,500 capacity stadium was built as part of the planning for the World Cup, and will revert to a home ground for local football clubs, Cuiba and Mixto, after the tournament.

Construction and history

The Arena Pantanal replaces the Verdao as the premier football stadium in Cuiba. The Verdao was in used from 1976 to 2010, when demolition of the venue was initiated. The Arena Pantanal is a significant upgrade of the previous stadium, and includes a training center, shopping mall and convention center.
