The Arena Pernambuco is a new stadium located in Recife in the state of São Lourenço da Mata, Brazil. The stadium was used to host matches during the 2013 Confederations Cup and will host five fixtures at the 2014 Football World Cup, including one Round of 16 fixture.
Construction on the Arena Pernambuco began in 2010, based on a design by architect, Daniel Fernandes. The stadium was designed to be a ‘green arena’, with the design including the creation of a solar power plant near the venue that will provide it with power during matches, and serve the local community when it the stadium is not in use.
The Arena Pernambuco has a capacity of 46,160 people. At the conclusion of the 2014 Football World Cup it will serve as the home ground for local football club Clube Náutico Capibaribe. The naming rights for the stadium belong to Brazilian brewery, Itaipava.
